Make marine life visible above water | Theme table Duikvaker 2024
Inspiration, information and interaction – that's what it's all about at the Theme Table at the DuikeninBeeld stand.
Help the underwater world and ensure that the above-water world also knows what lives there! How to do that, Julia van Beinum from the ANEMOON Foundation explains at the Theme Table.
No, don't be afraid! All marine life stays where it is. But how nice is it that with your observations during the dive you can provide the above-water world with information, gaining more insight into the distribution, trends and seasonal patterns of underwater life. Ultimately, with the help of your observations and the knowledge obtained from them, biodiversity and underwater nature can be better protected.
And no, that is not difficult, you do not have to follow complicated courses, you just have to dive and report online after the dive what you have seen. You can start working as a MOO observer as soon as you can recognize one species. As a citizen scientist, you thus make an important contribution. This is what is called: Using Diving or the Underwater Shore Monitoring Project (MOO).
Julia van Beinum from the ANEMOON Foundation will explain how it works at the Theme Table. You immediately make a 'virtual dive' and report your first observations. Educational, useful, but above all very fun! It gives your dive an extra dimension.
