Good year for Sea Shepherd

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]2014 was voor Sea Shepherd een heel goed en zeer succesvol jaar!
Early this year, “Operation Relentless” ended in a success, saving 784 whales!

Australia subsequently won a whaling case against Japan. The International Court of Justice in The Hague has ruled that Japanese whaling is not an investigative operation but a masked commercial operation. Something Sea Shepherd has been saying for years.

In addition to a number of local campaigns worldwide, this summer we went big on the Faroe Islands, an archipelago between Scotland and Iceland. For years whales have been herded onto the beach for entertainment on the excuse that this is tradition. Because of our presence 'only' 33 pilot whales were killed this year, last year there were 1330…… And this is happening in our backyard.

Japan has already indicated that it will disregard the ruling of the highest judicial body of the United Nations. This season they will conduct non-lethal research only to return to the whale sanctuary next year on a reduced quota. We will of course be ready again. This year, two of our vessels will be operating in the Southern Ocean, on the one hand to monitor the Japanese whaling fleet and on the other to actively hunt for Patagonian and Antarctic Grouper poachers, “Operation Icefish”:

In the Netherlands, we have now completed the opening of the world's first Sea Shepherd Store. We kept the opening itself relatively small, but the public knows where to find us, the Store is now open 6 days a week. Above the Store are the offices of Sea Shepherd Global, meaning Sea Shepherd is now globally controlled from Amsterdam.
