DuikeninBeeld Theme table and Duikvaker Podium – Photographing with the smartphone
Inspiration, information and interaction – that's what it's all about at the themed tables at the booth of DuikeninBeeld. Underwater photographer Ron Offermans shows you the possibilities underwater with your smartphone.
Almost everyone regularly takes pictures with their smartphone. It is clear that the camera quality of most modern smartphones is not inferior to that of the compact cameras. Shooting underwater with a smartphone is also gradually becoming more and more popular because it has its advantages!
In the first place, the convenience of the enormously large viewfinder image. In addition, the underwater housings are universal so that almost all different models of smartphones fit in the same housing, both Android and iPhone. Future models can also be used. This is because the connection between smartphone and underwater housing is not mechanical but electronic. A Bluetooth app is used for this. That app can also be updated if a new camera function becomes available. This concept also offers new possibilities such as a dive computer function. In short, with a smartphone you are completely ready for the future!
There are currently several brands and models of underwater housings available. For operation you need an app that provides the connection between the smartphone and the underwater housing. The app determines which settings are possible.
Stage and Theme table
During the presentation on stage, underwater photographer Ron Offermans, which are also for Digital Underwater Photography Handbook has extensively tested various combinations, the advantages and disadvantages of the different underwater housings in combination with the different apps. This gives you insight into whether shooting with a smartphone might be something for you.
You can also join Ron at the Theme table at the DuikeninBeeld stand. There you can ask Ron your questions and be inspired by this way of underwater photography (and filming). Of course Ron also has the necessary tips & tricks and do's & don'ts for you. And if you have already photographed underwater with a smartphone, take some examples on a USB stick with you.
