Aquacam.nl thinks along creatively
He is no stranger to Duikvaker – Jos Broere and his company Aquacam.nl. The underwater photographer is there with the Isotta brand, for which he is a distributor in the Benelux, and the products for underwater photography that he develops under his own brand.
“And then it's all the more beautiful when a photographer takes the winning wow photo with your product during a competition!”
Creative
Yes, Jos Broere himself develops tools that make shooting underwater easier or that can add something creative to a photo. Initially, the 2015 Dutch Champion did that for himself: “Purely because I ran into things for which there was no ready-made solution.” He now does the same for his customers. He invents it, draws it in 3D and prints it, all in-house. Sometimes his customers also come up with their own ideas and he works with them to develop the basic idea into an actual tool. “And then it's all the more beautiful when a photographer takes the winning wow photo with your product during a competition!”
Ideas that come out of his tube and sometimes even been copied worldwide in all kinds of variants are the flipsnoot, the dome diffusers, the fiber snoots and the wide-angle concentrator. How do you get there? “You have to think outside the box. What kind of photo do you want to take? And what do you need for it?” For Jos it is the art to constantly come up with new techniques.
Isotta – Striking red and very strong!
But Jos does not only create and produce himself. He has had a nice collaboration with the Italian brand Isotta for several years now. He distributes the products of the family business, which has been active since the early 1970s, in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Successfully! Because you see the red underwater housings more and more along the waterfront. What makes these houses special? “The aluminum houses are entirely of European manufacture,” says Jos. “In fact, apart from anodizing, the products are made at Isotta itself.” Unique are the double o-rings on each grommet. “No,” Jos laughs, “that's not because Isotta doubts the watertightness of the houses! The standard double o-ring gives just that little bit of extra security.”
The houses are not only made by hand within the company itself, all designs are also made in-house in Italy. “What is very nice is that the team is open to ideas. For example, they had a leak detector with only a light. However, many photographers also wanted an acoustic signal and now you are warned with light and sound!” Isotta keeps a close eye on developments in the camera market and does everything it can to quickly have a matching house and accessories available, whether that is for the most advanced SLR camera or an action or compact camera.
Isotta also has a scoop on Duikvaker: the new RED 64 flash. "At the moment there is still a lot of testing, but everything indicates that the new flash is present at the diving fair." So be sure to drop by!
To Duikvaker
For Jos Broere, Duikvaker is a moment of contact with his (potential) customers. “It always helps when people can see and feel. After all, buying an underwater housing is not something you do often.” It is important to him that he can give personal advice. Together with the photographer, he looks at all possibilities and then comes up with advice. “After all, a happy customer is the best advertisement.” Isotta also has a scoop on Duikvaker: the new RED 64 flash.
